EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS
I was the first to break this story in August of last year and last week you read it hear first that Daniel Winfield Horres was born last Thursday. For the past week, I have been in negotiations with I'm Just Sayin and the family to bring you the first pictures of Daniel. We had a break through in negotiations tonight (hope LA doesn't check the bank account anytime soon) and I am PROUD to bring you these exclusive photos. Eat your heart out National Enquirer, TMZ, People, Star and US Weekly.

Wyatt 1 Year Check-Up

While I was away in Vegas earlier in March, Wyatt had his 1 year check up. I tried to change the appointment but was unable unless we wanted to have his 1 year check up sometime in late April. (Sorry, Wyatt it was the first check up appointment that I have missed for Aubrey or Wyatt in 2.5 years. I tried not to miss it.)
Everything was fine.
Here is the tale of the tape for Wyatt: {Aubrey at 1 year}
Height - 30" (+.25" from 9 month appointment) - 70th percentile {30.5")
Weight - 24lbs 2 oz (+1lb 15oz from 9 month appointment) - 75th percentile {24.5"}
Head - 19" (+.75 from 9 month appointment) - 90th percentile {18"}
I am pretty sure they changed the weighing system because he is a heavy 24lbs 2oz. But regardless of the numbers the most important thing is that he is healthy. Him and Aubrey are almost the exact same size at one year...not much difference. He is close to walking but as soon as you look at him he sits down and starts crawling. Not sure if I wrote about this but Wyatt is the ticklish baby I have ever seen. If you tickle his belly, we smiles and laughs...good stuff and he gives good hugs, kisses and fives.

Our Life Presented by (Insert Your Company's Name)
I've been holding on to writing this post for quite some time and thought why not today...don't think it is something earth shattering because it isn't...important yes (well, at least to me..you will have to decided if it is important to you.)
I would never fashion myself as a food critic because my palate isn't nearly sophisticated enough to be one (actually, I am picky (not DW picky but pretty close and not Wyatt picky because he doesn't like ANYTHING that is not meat or noodles and were not trying to feed him anything that I wouldn't eat). I've been around long enough to know what I like and it's what I eat. I am not interested in making any new food friends. I had ample opportunity while going up while sitting at the dinner table and those things I didn't like then I don't like now and I probably have added a few more to the I do not eat list. However, I can be a critic about the foods, I eat and the places I eat them. I don't think this will be a regular feature of this blog but maybe occasionally I will post about LA and my food adventures and our favorites.
I want to start with Deli's. I will cut straight to the chase and rank them.
1. Jason's Deli
2. East Bay Deli
3. All The Rest - I am indifferent about all of them...go or don't go and it won't bother me.
My favorite is Jason's Deli. Why? Well, it is simple Jason's Deli has soft serve ice cream. It's not quite that simple but it comes down to their hot pastrami sandwich. It is a generous portion of meat, piled onto rye bread with melted cheese (your choice). East Bay Deli is a new find for me and is a close second because of their New Yorker double stack - pastrami and corned beef piled high with cheese (your choice). I guess you see a common thread about me and deli's - pastrami. I am not going to a deli to eat a ham and cheese. I can make one of those at home close to, if not better than they can make it but the pastrami is another story. Never been able to duplicate it at home...even with the Boar's Head pastrami (Why Boar's Head, you are asking? Ask my friend Arlette. Who for years labeled me as some kind of lunch meat snob because I didn't eat XYZ brand and only ate Boar's Head but one day she tried some Boar's Head and she has never been back and now her kids request Boar's Head. You might think they are all the same but there not.) So there you have it Jason's Deli for pastrami and ice cream. If you looking for a review on the other 100 sandwiches and soups they have, go try them yourself. I only eat pastrami at Jason's Deli and East Bay Deli. Because, they are not close to my house, it's a treat when I get to stop by one of them (Jason's or East Bay) and my mouth waters just thinking about it.
So I am sure you are asking, what about Summerville area Deli's and where they rank. McAlister's, Atlanta Bread and Panera Bread all fall into number 3. I don't hate them but none of them are my favorite. I don't go to any of them for deli sandwiches. I have found a couple of items that appeal to me when I go those places and I will share them with you. You should know that I tried the pastrami sandwich at McAlister's and the problem was the portion size, very small amount of pastrami for the price. I want to purchase a Jason's Deli pastrami sandwich and take it to the counter at McAlister's and show them how to make a REAL sandwich. So what should you eat (or at least what I eat) when your go to McAlisters - loaded baked potatoes, the Big Nasty (open faced roast beef) or their super thin crust pizza with feta cheese and add chicken (it's got a bunch of other stuff like red peppers, bell peppers, black olives but I 86 those). Atlanta Bread get the chicken pesto sandwich and something from the bakery counter. Panera Bread get something from the bakery (to be honest, I have only been twice and don't remember what I got the first time and the second time I got a pecan sticky bun - which was very good).
There you have the first Our Life - Restaurant Review....To be real honest the whole point of this post was my desire to a sandwich from Jason's Deli or East Bay and take it to McAlisters to show them how to make a sandwich for $8 and not have me feel cheated or leave hungry.
PS - I will add that the sweet tea at McAlister's is good. They have perfected their recipe but so has McDonald's and theirs is only $1.00.

Ramblings on Monday
LAS VEGAS
*Not much to report about Vegas because "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas".
*Stayed at this hotel - Aria which is part of City Center (Jerry Jones $1B palace doesn't have squat on this place, in excess of $8.5B - various sources but could be less and it could be more...no one knows - my estimate that it's going to take a whole lot of quarters to pay it off and my $7 contribution (more on that later) won't even cover 1 minute of water use in the entire facility)
*Heard from CEO of Motorola Solutions, Greg Brown (great leader and speaker); spoke about the taking the CEO position at a difficult time in Motorola's history and guiding it to the split in January of 2011 and now the exciting future of Motorola Solutions. Found this video on Youtube:
*Motorola Solutions is an 80 year old company that is now 3 months old
*I'm excited because Motorola Mobility won't be sucking the life out of the company and the success of a smartphone doesn't determine the success of the company and the investors perception...Motorola Solutions gets to keep all its profits for R and D instead of covering the loses in the phone division. It will bring more scrutiny to Motorola Solutions because they will be one step closer to the investor and good or bad will not be able to hide.
*Heard from Pat Croce, former owner/president of Philadelphia 76'ers (this guy is high energy, he makes Jenn Williams look like the a snail), great story - grab your dreams, pursue your passions and to not let the "should's" rule your world (should have done this, should have done that), "should happens" and "get that "should" off your face"
*Heard from Roy Spence, CEO of GDS&M - a marketing firm in Austin, TX - check out the website, they do marketing for all the big boys and are behind the Southwest ads "bags fly free", author "It's Not What You Sell, It's What You Stand For", message was that every company has to focus on purpose - What is the purpose of your company and insure that every decision you make regarding your business is viewed through the prism of your purpose of your organization.

*I couldn't convince LA that we should take all our cash, cash in our assets and go all or nothing on one spin of the roulette wheel - betting on black for a one in a lifetime trip to the poor house for the rest of our lives or immediate retirement
*I won nothing. One of my employees won a Jason Kidd basketball. Not to bad except that it was the low tier prize($100 on Ebay, which is more than I would pay by about $99 dollars) compared to the Kobe jersey, Lebron jersey (which a guy from Cleveland won and burned it on the dance floor), Michael Jordan signed basketball and Super Bowl 2012 tickets(which might be the crappiest prize since there might not be a Super Bowl next year)...I lied about winning. I was a winner - I turned $7 into $99 and the greed of wanting another dollar to make $100 caused me to lose it all and thinking all the time, one more spin (roulette) and I can get it all back...pretty sure, if I gambled more often or wagered more money that would be signs of a gambling problem...anybody want to loan me $20 dollars?
*Almost bought LA a Harry Winston diamond...Sorry that was ALMOST...pretty sure they didn't have the 0% interest, 30 year plan and pretty sure they wouldn't even let me in the store.
*Vegas figured out that they don't have to give away food or $.49 shrimp cocktails and can actually charge full resort price for food and beverages...for example $10 for blueberry muffin and oj (and the bad part was a $1.29 Otis Spunkmeyer muffin is better)
*Pretty sure our taxi driver was planning a bombing or talking about robbing us and made me wonder, if the taxi company has to do background checks on it's employees...things that make you go hummmm
*Airplane middle seat sucks...what engineer thought that would be a great idea? Nothing good all the way around about sitting middle or sitting next to person in middle - PS - "Hey, Tiny in the middle seat next to me those are my ribs"
*Tiny was reading - 2010 US Tax Code. It looked like about 4,000 pages, small type and I am 100% sure he was the only person who bought a copy and I am 100% sure he wasn't a lawyer or accountant...Hell's Angel probably...but I shouldn't judge
*A window seat is really nice except when you see smoke coming from the engine...the rest of the story, as we backed away from the gate in Vegas, I noticed smoke coming from the engine and thought it was weird and probably not something you should be seeing. We stopped and after a few minutes our pilot or the head stewardess tells us the following "As you noticed, we pushed back from the gate and have now stopped. We are having a problem with engine 1 (the one I saw smoking) coming up to full power. It is running a little rough. We are going to pull back to the gate and have our ground crew check it out". Sounds like an excellent plan and I also suggest we go ahead and deplane and get on another jet. It is obviously a sign. We are then told the following after not moving back to the gate "We have talked to ground control and they have suggested that we power the engine down and start everything up again and this is a common problem." I pushed my stewardess light and asked to speak to ground control. The engine was smoking and I am thinking a different plane is in order and this isn't a common problem (unless the engine is getting ready to blow...not interested in taking off in a mosquito fogger on a 3.5 hour flight...doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling). After about 5 minutes, I can hear the engine running and no smoke is coming out and we are told "Everyone, just to keep you updated, the pilots have restarted engine 1 and everything is fine, ground control was correct and it just needed to be rebooted like your computer. We will be on our way now." Excuse me, did you just compare the jet engine to a computer? I don't think so but if you must are you familiar with the Microsoft blue screen of death? We didn't deplane, we went full power to the runway and I crossed my fingers and said a few prayers. It made me think about Ron White and this bit...
*Had a great welcome home from LA, Aubrey and Wyatt at the airport - They didn't have signs (which I would have liked) but that's okay...ha!ha! I was only gone for four days
*Wyatt gave me a present for being home while taking his bath with Aubrey. He dropped a couple of floaters in tub. That is a CODE RED EVACUATION. LA was laughing and said "Welcome, home daddy!".
MISC
*Not going to complain but the mosquitoes are back and the "no seeums" are out...I was hoping they had become extinct over the winter
*Hoping for some rain to knock the pollen down.
*Remember, the NCAA is concerned for the student athlete...expanded basketball tournament to 68 teams with 4 play in games...let's look at the past two weeks for Clemson as an example - last week ACC tournament kids missed at least 3 days (probably 4 days) of class; as one of the last teams in the tournament, they get to play on Tuesday night in Dayton, OH, if they win they then travel to Tampa for a game on Thursday...lose home Friday, back to class on Monday - nope it's Spring Break.
*Why isn't the play in game played in the city where you will play your round 2 game?
*Why aren't the eight worst teams matched to play each other and why aren't all the play in game winners playing the number 1 seed? I am sure someone has the answers to these questions...maybe it doesn't matter, seems goofy to me

Wyatt's 1
Today is Wyatt's 1st Birthday (03.05)
To get our new readers up to speed on what was going on a year ago, read this and this.
We had a Construction Equipment Theme party for Wyatt today at Bethany's playground. Wyatt had a bunch of family and friends come to celebrate this special day with him, play with Tonka toys, slide down the slides and just have fun like only kids can do. He couldn't tell everyone how much it meant to him to have them there and to be honest, he didn't know most of the people there but I do know that years from know when he see the pictures and videos he will understand and know how many people love him and care about him (He will even get to see a video of how much Michael cared about him as he was leaving before the party was over). Since he couldn't tell you, LA and I will tell you "Thank You" and it means the world to us to have a loving and supportive group of family and friends and it is something that LA and I appreciate more than I can express on this blog.
The best part of the party was that we didn't have to call 911 and as far was I know Greg and Jenn or any other family as of 11:08pm didn't ended up at any local area hospital from injuries while playing on the playground (which is a miracle for Greg and Jenn, I was on pins and needles the whole time they were there because we didn't get the insurance rider when we reserved the playground). We didn't even need an ice pack or band aids (which is pretty amazing since it seems everyday Aubrey tells us or shows us a place where she got an ice pack from something that happened on the playground...Paige was the closest to needing an ice pack after a fall but some mommy loving took care of it.). My mother whose age will be withheld (you know my age do the math and then add 7 and remember I am the second child - my sister is 5 years older than me) actually got in the swings and as John Anderson said "she was swinging". I haven't seen her in a swing in a long, long, long time. It was good to see her having some fun. In addition to the party, I volunteered our attendees to check out the safety of the big swings and it passed the safety check - Corey, Scott and Wesley all on the swing at the same time and nothing broke - if you looking for a swing set, call Bethany CDC to find out the kind of swing because I am telling you it is the strongest and safest on the market if it could hold all that weight. The kids in CDC can swing safely now knowing that the swing set is safe.
What's up with March 5th other than it being Wyatt's birthday?
*March 5th is the 64 day of the year / 294 shopping days until Christmas
*Wyatt is happy to share his birthday with Niki Taylor and Eva Mendes (he and his daddy are hoping for a group party one year)
*Boston Massacre in 1770
*John Belushi was found dead at 33
*Martha Stewart was found guilty of lying to the government
Pretty slow day but it is now extra special to us because of Wyatt

We had a Construction Equipment Theme party for Wyatt today at Bethany's playground. Wyatt had a bunch of family and friends come to celebrate this special day with him, play with Tonka toys, slide down the slides and just have fun like only kids can do. Random Thoughts On Monday Night
Wyatt
*He is 5 days away from his 1st Birthday...(more on that later this week - it called a teaser to get you to come back and read this blog)
*Everybody says it so I might as well "Where did that year go? I can't believe it". If you can't believe it how do you think LA and I feel?
*He still doesn't have the first tooth or any indication of getting on in the next five days. At 9 months we asked the doctor when we should be worried he told us "At a year old". It almost time to find out what's happening.
*His lack of teeth has not stopped him from eating us out of house and home. That boy can flat out eat. He is a chunk a monk or a rollie pollie.
*He is picker about eating that his Daddy. He is on the verge of DW status.
*He loves meat and more meat....veggies not so much except for green beans; no butter beans, no peas (green peas or field), no carrots, no broccoli; maybe squash if it is mushed up; fruit - strawberries no so much, bananas mashed up, grapes not so much, peaches and pears on certain days, loves applesauce...He inspects what is on the spoon/fork or on his tray. If doesn't like it he turns his head and starts fusing. When you give him what he likes, he opens his mouth. It is hard to trick him. He will start fusing and want to spit it out, if you are ever able to get it in. You don't believe he is picky eater watch these videos (and he is dramatic about it)
*LA and I are counting the days down to putting the car seat up. We are tired of carrying around the 35 pound dumbbell. It can come soon enough.
*He is standing up and holding on...not walking yet. It is much easier and quicker for him to crawl. (just an observation...his legs are probably not strong enough to hold up his belly)
*He is babbling but not talking yet
*He loves to give hugs and kisses
*He can give you five or blow you kisses (from his eye)
*He is very ticklish
*He thinks his sister is funny (for some reason when he laughs at her though it seems Aubrey is always going to time out)
*He is very chill and puts up with Aubrey
*I am pretty sure he is counting the days until he can pay Aubrey back
Misc
*Aubrey's Day Care is having a PJ day on Wednesday in honor of Dr. Seuss and on the note that came home it said the following "bottoms are required". Which means that one PJ day a kid came with out pants on...come on really parents...think
*In case you missed it Jeff Gordon ended the longest stretch between wins in his career yesterday at Phoenix.
*If the cheerleader for Louisville had cost them the game which he almost did I am pretty sure Rick P would have had him shipped to Kathmandu or the North Pole or got him some new concrete shoes.
*News Flash the ACC basketball championship will be settled between UNC and Duke...really, never would have guessed it in a million years. If you bet on one of them to win the ACC in Vegas at the beginning of the year, for every dollar you bet you only got $.50 back - bet $50 and only win $25.
*Where was the Accenture Match Play Championship? Tucson, AZ...really? It was cold all week. Had a freeze delay the first day and yesterday I turned on the matches and it was sleeting which was after a morning dump of snow. They should have played it in Charleston.
*A shout out to Dave and Shara for the announcement of Baby 2 on the way. The Providence drive for 11 in 2011 is officially on...they make 7 (I am counting Sam C as a 2011 baby and I will count babies and pregnancies...remember rule number one, it's my blog.)
*Gas is going through the roof and we bought a large SUV to go with our larger SUV and are selling the Focus...interesting
