I will guarantee you before you start reading this that their will be no rhyme or reason to the order in which things are posted and away we go...
*Check out the music player to the right...enjoy some tunes while reading. I will change them up occasionally. I haven't figured out to make it play automatically, so you will have to hit play.
*My last post indicated it might be awhile between posts. The reason, I am old and fragile. I was running to third while playing softball and since the infield is as hard as concrete and I refuse to slide (because the strawberry/road rash is not worth it). Somehow, while trying to stop 195 pounds on a little raised square, I got my feet tangled up and fell beyond the bag and caught myself (all 195 pounds) with my hand. I was out and killed the inning. I also realized that my wrist was starting to hurt but kept playing the rest of that game and our second game of the night (because I am a player...ha!ha!) - long story now getting shorter - ends up that I sprained my wrist. The next day I couldn't move my hand and thought my typing days were over. I have been on the DL from blogging and softball since April 4. Almost wish I had broke it.
*I have now visited 3 of the 4 corners of the US - CA, FL, ME (I could say I have been to all 4 since I did just go to Portland...but it was Portland, ME)
*Don't think I talked about here but there's a first for everything. Have you ever been to a wedding and saw an innocent guest get caked by the bride? I did...
It had something to do with her husband doing this...
It was a great wedding and all in good fun.
Good work, John...BTW Whitney, I owe you one.
*What is up with flying these days? Flew Delta last week and here are the highlights:
*Delayed flight out of Charleston - landed with 15 minutes to make connection in ATL
*Ran from gate A5 to B5...looked like OJ in the Hertz commercials (for those born after the late 70's, you missed some classic commercials and it isn't on the internet anywhere)
*Caught my flight to find out they were working on the deicing system and we sat on the plane for 1:20 minutes to fix the problem - glad I was in a big hurry
*While sitting on the plane for an hour you would think they would be offering you free drinks, pretzels, peanuts and cookies but I was wrong. I fully understand how someone could go wacko after being on the plane for that long or longer and not being able to get out. Non Our Life reader, Michael, sat for 4 hours in ATL on a flight to Oregon. Pretty sure I would have made the news. If I would have been in an exit row, I could have fixed that situation.
*Coming home avoided ATL and went to Laguardia - brilliant move except for the extra 40 minutes of flying around who knows where until we were cleared to land
*On the plane to Charleston from Laguardia - got to sit on the runway for almost an 1 waiting to take off
*It's true lobsters are cheaper in Maine - $25 for 2 1 1/8lb whole lobsters - In case you are wondering, I ate both of them and they were delicious. If I wasn't with a group, I would have ordered a two.
*Could we trade Maine for something in Canada?
*Stayed in a hotel from 1800s and pretty sure much hadn't changed since initial construction. If going to Portland, ME and want the old rustic (7 foot ceilings...etc) feel let me know, otherwise check out the Embassy Suites at the airport.
*If your traveling and wondering how much a cab ride is with tip to your hotel - $20 dollars...Doesn't matter where you are - Las Vegas, Portland, ME
*We got a parakeet. It only took 2.5 years to get it to repeat everything we say and everything anyone else says.
*New rule - if you don't want it repeated, don't say it.
*Aubrey's been saying "Come on, guys" with a perfect northern twang. If I can get it on video I will post it. Her teacher Mrs. Kathy is from up beyond the Mason Dixon Line and we are sure that is where she learned it.
*Aubrey went to the dentist yesterday for the first time. She was a rockstar and Mrs. Kelly is the best dental hygienist in the Lowcountry (she is also the only dental hygienist, I know). Our Life recommends Mrs. Kelly to all our readers - She works at Lowcountry Dentistry.
*LA now has glasses to complement her contacts and I must say that she looks pretty darn good in them and people are saying she looks much younger.
*Wyatt is walking about 50% of the time now and is mastering climbing up the stairs.
*So we have entered the terrible 2's. It didn't start until she was 2.5 but she is making up for lost time.
*Never go low with the lowest price for glass vases...they are $9.95 for a reason.
*Husband of The Year 2011 - Travis W
*Travis takes the award and it was earned the hard way. While helping (after only about 15 minutes) his wife with prom set up (which is a separate award in itself), a glass vase (see above) broke causing him to cut his hand, 3 tendons completely, 1 tendon 30% and an artery. He was rushed to the hospital, taken care of sent home for the night and had 4.5 hours of surgery the following day and now gets 3 months off...Evidently, just saying "I don't want to help with prom wouldn't get him out of it". Pretty sure Minde gets the point now and Travis is out of anything prom related for life. Travis took this to a whole different level.
*If you not reading, I'm Just Sayin, you are missing out on at least one good laugh each week.
*Realized while filling out our tax forms that we had an extra deduction in 2010 - Wyatt. I had totally forgot about him being born in 2010. What a bonus...talk about Christmas in April...show me the money, actually give me my money back.
*If you want something to melt your heart, ask Aubrey about Jesus and the Cross
*BIG SHOUT OUT to Our Life readers Danny and Jenn on the moving into their remodeled house...you can check out the story here and see pictures of their awesome home. Anybody looking to remodel should take the Wright's and Carter's to dinner. I promise it will be the best money you have ever spent.
*Looking for a new addition to fill up that big new home for Danny and Jenn...Our Life is thinking February 2012, remember you heard it hear first. It wouldn't be the first time moving into a home produced a new addition 10 months later.
*Today is my last post being 43...having a party at a to be determined date, time and place (anyone want to host? let me know) - entry will be 2 - 22's of your choice. I realize I missed a couple of perfect dates - 2/22, 4/4..now I guess we will shoot for the 22nd of some month remaining in the year.
*Will be working on a birthday post but as I said last year...not much happens after 43.
This is a commentary on my life as it revolves around my hot wife, my 2 daughters, my son, extended family, friends, church & the lessons that we are learning & the fun we are having (or at least think, we are having).
